A little about me

I'm building a career at the point where legal advocacy meets public platform — from federal courtrooms and congressional offices to the Miss America stage. Showing up prepared, in either room, is its own form of empowerment.

About

A little about
where I come from.

The short version: a volleyball court, a sociology degree, a law school classroom, a pageant stage, a campaign office, and an AI policy desk — in that order. Drag or scroll through the long version below.

2013 — 2019

Volleyball

Six years playing competitive volleyball — where the discipline for everything since actually started.

May 2021

Graduated Dean's List from UMBC with a minor in Legal Policy — Mock Trial and the Pre-Law Society pointed toward what came next.

Started the J.D. at NSU Shepard Broad College of Law.

2026

Miss Broward County

Crowned Miss Broward County, now competing for Miss Florida on a platform built around Stoic philosophy and mental wellness.

Where I've worked.

Working toward

Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, by the end of this semester

I'm completing NSU Law's Dispute Resolution Clinic — a clinical course where students train in mediation and negotiation, then mediate real, court-referred cases under faculty supervision instead of arguing them in front of a judge. By the end of the semester, I'll be a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.

Aug 2026 — Present

AI Legal Governance Intern

Atraiva AI

I fact-check our AI compliance tool, Kestrel, against real breach-notification laws in all 52 jurisdictions — basically making sure the AI isn't making things up before clients see it.

Aug 2026 — Present

Teaching Assistant, Advanced Legal Research Techniques

NSU Shepard Broad College of Law

Got the CALI Award for the top grade in this class, so now I help Professor Diaz teach it — showing other students how to actually use the legal research databases instead of just clicking around.

Jun 2026 — Present

Fellow

JLETI — Journal of Law, Emerging Technology & Information

I dig into how AI is actually showing up in legal education — the tools being marketed to law students, and whether AI policy holds up once it meets the real world.

Oct 2025 — Aug 2026

Director of Legal & Regulatory Compliance

Guardian Public Safety Services

Started as an intern, got promoted to Director. I built the compliance program pretty much from scratch — emergency management, cybersecurity, physical security, government contracting, all of it.

Jun 2026 — Aug 2026

Campaign & Legislative Affairs Intern

Shevrin Jones for Congress

Ran the endorsement pipeline and wrote policy positions — economic justice, housing, healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights — for Senator Shevrin Jones's FL-24 campaign.

Jun 2026 — Aug 2026

AI Fellow

Panza Maurer Law Library, NSU Shepard Broad College of Law

Helped Professor Diaz launch the PMLL AI and Legal Tech Lab from the ground up — building out the research frameworks and programming around AI and legal tech.

Jan 2026 — Apr 2026

Congressional Intern

Office of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Wrote briefings and memos on AI, data governance, election law, and data privacy for the legislative team.

Dec 2025 — Apr 2026

Tax Mentee

Baker McKenzie

One of 30 students picked nationwide for Baker McKenzie's Tax Law Mentor Program — got to learn regulatory strategy and international tax straight from Am Law attorneys.

Jun 2025 — Aug 2025

Federal Judicial Academy Intern

U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida

Wrote a bench memo on a federal removal motion under Judge Beth Bloom, then argued it myself in a mock oral argument.

The 2026 Back-to-School Drive

Her Philosophy's first project — packing backpacks and school supplies for Broward County students ahead of the first bell. The entry below is about how it went.

Our First Back-to-School Drive: Why We Did It and What Happened

When I founded Her Philosophy, I knew I wanted it to be more than a social media page. I wanted it to do something real. Something tangible. Something that a child could hold in their hands on the first day of school and feel.

That's how our first Back-to-School Drive was born.

Broward County is home to over 100 Title I schools, schools serving students who face real economic hardship every single day. For many of those students, walking into the first day of school with a full backpack is not a given. It is a luxury. And I couldn't sit with that reality without doing something about it.

So I put out a call to the community. I set up an Amazon wishlist, shared it everywhere I could, and asked people to show up for kids they had never met. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. This was our first drive. Her Philosophy is still young. But I believed in the mission, and I believed in the people around me.

What happened next left me speechless.

Donation after donation started coming in. Backpacks. Notebooks. Pencils. Pens. Highlighters. Calculators. Rulers. Scissors. Erasers. Glue sticks. Pencil pouches. Binders. Loose leaf paper. Item after item, from people who simply saw a need and answered it without hesitation.

Every single donation went directly to Friends of Foster Children, Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting children in the foster care system right here in our community. These are kids who have already faced more than most adults will ever understand. The least we could do was make sure they walked into August 10th with everything they needed to learn.

Standing next to those donations, seeing everything that had come together, I felt something shift in me. Her Philosophy is real. This community is real. And the impact we can make together is just getting started.

To everyone who donated, shared, or simply spread the word, thank you. You didn't just give supplies. You gave a child the message that someone believes in them before the year even begins.

That is what Her Philosophy is about. That is why we show up.

This is only the beginning.

With love and gratitude,
Sydney Tucker
